walser.php is focused on a particular software written in reaction to one of the largest literature scandals in post-1945 Germany. The PHP script can generate an ASCII text version of Martin Walser’s novel ‘Tod eines Kritikers’ from the 10,000 lines of extensive source code. The source code includes the novel in ‘invisible’ (that is, only machine-readable) form and can therefore be freely distributed and modified as free software under the GNU General Public License. However, it may only be executed with written permission by the Suhrkamp publishing house.

The project The Conceptual Crisis of Private Property as a Crisis in Practice makes it possible to conceal the entire text of a novel in one single image. The work is comprised of a script (crisis.php), an explanatory text (crisis.txt), and an image (crisis.png). While the screenshot of the desktop is the intellectual property of ‘Robert Luxemburg’ and can be freely disseminated by him, the image when ‘executed’ generates copyrighted material subject to stringent restrictions.
