Computer animation, 2004–2007
Commercial stock photography – primarily photographed and optimised to serve advertising purposes – is used by Fred Fröhlich as source material for Volume I. He confronts the viewers with thirty images per second, a total of 12,452 images. A person usually requires at least three seconds to roughly process an image. Due to the speed and the rearrangement, the individual images are not identifiable, and the conceptual depth achieved by the respective image authors disappears completely in the face of Fröhlich’s collective composition.
